CPF REGISTRATION

 

The jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Brazilin Sydney includes: New South Wales, Queensland, Northern Territory, Norfolk Island, American Samoa, French Polynesia, Guam (USA), Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Federative States of Micronesia, Nauru, New Caledonia (FR), Northern Marianas Islands (USA), Palau, Pitcairn Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Wallis & Futuna Islands (FR)

According to Brazilian Legislation ("Instrução Normativa nº 190, de 9 de agosto de 2002, da Secretaria da Receita Federal"), norms were established where by Brazilians or foreigners, non residents or residents in Brazil, that find themselves overseas, can register or cancel their enrolment and alter their personal details for the CPF, through Brazilian Embassies or Consulates abroad.

All applications for registration and personal detail alterations require the presentation of a specific form which can be accessed at http://www.receita.fazenda.gov.br

For English speaking applicants

On top left hand side of the Homepage click English; followed by Issuance of Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF) form for nonresidents. On the new page click FCPF - Individual Taxpayer Registration Form. In the lower left hand corner select country and click onto Australia. To finalize this process click on Ficha (form) and print. The form automatically receives an individual number, rendering impossible for another person to use that same form.

Brazilian Citizens must present the completed form, together with a valid form of Brazilian Identification (Brazilian identification card, new Brazilian National Driver's license or Brazilian passport), as well as their Brazilian electoral card. The Consulate General will make an authenticated copy of each document. A$10.00 (ten dollars) per document.

Non-Brazilian Citizens must present the completed form, together with a valid form of photo identification (identification card, driver's license or passport), as well as their original birth certificate if the photo identification does not specify the parents names. The Consulate will make an authenticated copy of each document. A$10.00 (ten dollars) per document.

The application of the above mentioned requirements can be made by the following methods:

1. Personally at the Consulate General in Sydney (Level 17, 31 Market Street, NSW), from Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm;

2. Third party, at the Consulate General in Sydney, provided that the third party has written authorization signed by the applicant and a Justice of the Peace;

3. Via Mail. In this case the following instructions must be followed: completed form; original documents (as above), for the authenticated copies to be made, at the value of A$10.00 (ten dollars) per document, paid only by Australia Post Money Orders on the name of the Consulate-General of Brazil. Deposit into the Consulate General’s bank account will NOT be accepted. The Australia Post Money Orders must be sent to the Consulate General together with the required documents. No other forms of payment will be accepted; stamped self-addressed envelope for the return* of the original identification documents and receipt of application;

* The Consulate General in Sydney is NOT responsible for delays or losses of correspondence. We request that a stamped self-addressed return envelope be purchased at the post office ("AUSTRALIA POST"). "Express Post" or "Registered Post" envelopes are recommended. The Consulate General cannot be held responsible for lost or delayed mail.

REGISTRATION FOLLOW UP


- The Consulate General in Sydney receives the application forms and forwards these to the Receita Federal, under a special agreement convention with the Ministry of Foreign Relations. The processing of the request is exclusive to the Secretaria da Receita Federal/ Ministério da Fazenda. The applicant will receive related information from that institution by telephone and / or by the email address appearing on the form.
