SIGNATURE CERTIFICATION AND AUTHENTICATION OF DOCUMENTS IN GENERAL The NSW, QLD and NT are on the Consulate General jurisdiction. The Consulate-General can only recognise the signatures of local notaries, of certain Australian authorities, or Brazilian nationals and foreign owner of "Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros " (RNE). Important remarks: 1. Documents requiring consular legalisation of a signature of a Brazilian citizen must be signed in the presence of a consular official. In this case, the signatory must present either a Brazilian passport or an ID card issued by a Brazilian authority. As an alternative, or in case of impossibility of be present at the Consulate, prior to lodgement, the signature must be recognised by a notary public whose specimen signature is already on file at the Consulate-General. 2. With the exception of local notaries and certain Australian authorities, the Consulate-General cannot recognise the signature of non-Brazilians. Citizens of other nationalities must have their signatures recognised by notaries whose specimen signature should be on file at the Consulate-General. 3. Before requesting the recognition of a notary's signature, please check with the Consulate-General if his/her signature is already on file. If not, send to the Consulate-General a specimen of the signature and the seal of the notary. The Consulate-General can only have on file the signatures of notaries within its jurisdiction (in Australia: New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory). Important note: Effective from 1 st March 2007, Australia Post Money Orders will be the sole accepted form of payment for consular services. The Australian Post Money Order must be on the name of the Consulate-General of Brazil. Deposit into the Consulate General’s bank account will NOT be accepted.

The Consulate-General cannot be held responsible for lost or delayed mail. Upon arrival of complete documentation and fees at the consulate-general please allow a minimum of five working days for the legalisation. Add a minimum of two working days for documentation returned by mail to locations in Australia.
