The Consulate-General can only recognise the signatures of local notaries, of certain Australian authorities, or Brazilian nationals and foreign owner of "Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros " (RNE).

As an alternative, or in case of impossibility of be present at the Consulate, prior to lodgement, the signature must be recognised by a notary public whose specimen signature is already on file at the Consulate-General.

2. With the exception of local notaries and certain Australian authorities, the Consulate-General cannot recognise the signature of non-Brazilians. Citizens of other nationalities must have their signatures recognised by notaries whose specimen signature should be on file at the Consulate-General.

3. Before requesting the recognition of a notary's signature, please check with the Consulate-General if his/her signature is already on file. If not, send to the Consulate-General a specimen of the signature and the seal of the notary. The Consulate-General can only have on file the signatures of notaries within its jurisdiction (in Australia: New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory).
