minors from Brazil. The legislation states that Brazilian children under the age of 18 can ONLY travel
from Brazil to any country abroad in the company of both their parents, legal guardians (guardianship
is determined by a judicial decision) or if authorized. The Authorization to Travel is issued with two
originals. One of the paternal/maternal/legal guardian authorizations will be retained and kept
by the Brazilian Federal Police. The ‘minor’ can also travel with a judicial authorization, when applicable.
Provided there is a signed authorization from the parent or legal guardian that is not travelling with the
child, a judicial authorization is not required when the child travels with of one the parents, alone, or
in the company of a third person.
An authorization from the parent or legal guardian that is not travelling with the child MUST be
signed according to the specification on the form “Autorização Para Viagem de Menor”
